The Van Houtens are sadistic, lunatic sisters. Through a deranged pact to "capture the hearts" of five men every year, they kidnap, rape, torture and kill their victims with systematic gory success. Their maniacal rampage may be in jeopardy, however, through an ironic twist of fate: a documentary filmmaker's car breaks down in Mansionville. While stranded and waiting for parts in the non-functioning town, he learns of the sisters, their secretive month-long vacation, and the many men who have disappeared. As the fresh meat is being brutalized and murdered, the filmmaker starts asking questions and he begins making the connection. Is he on the road to an Oscar? Or an untimely, horrific death?

The young mechanic Paul lives with his parents and works in a motor shop until, driven by a fellow worker, he joins a student protest, where he meets the uninhibited (and frequently naked) socialist Michela. In between workers uprisings she makes porno films for the mob, and takes a bath with her prostitute girlfriend. Michela has been separated for a long time from her husband Renato, largely because of Renato's conventional and cold middle-class stance. In other words Renato doesn't dig Michela's whorish ways. Paul and Renato somehow become friends. Although Paul piously rejects the advances of Michela, he is intrigued and spiritually attracted by the new political movement. He begins reading Lenin, smoking weed and hanging out in socialist circles. He blows off his capitalistic job for three weeks and gets fired. When Renato suggests that Paul move in with him, the mechanic refuses. Renato falsely accuses Paul of having an affair with Michela.

D’Agostino’s outrageous first movie recalls Pasolini’s Salò but he gives us his own personal vision, exploiting his skills as a former painter, creating a fiercely blasphemous work and taking us into a dreamlike journey (better, a journey fluctuating between a dream and a nightmare) through a mental universe where the subconscious of a young man, after a serious car accident, projects the victim while lying on a hospital bed. D’Agostino keeps on playing with what is real or not, showing obscene and provocative tableaux vivants, imbued with incredible religious and heretic strenght. It’s the journey of this young man as a reincarnation of Messiah, fighting against a totalitarian and fascist society....
